Especially when fish are very shy and not feeding aggressively, a large single hook can lead to missed bites, whereas fine steel stingers can drastically improve hook-up rates. Especially for larger pike lures, screws should be used, as the stinger system can be adapted to the size of the soft lure. But also for zander, vertical and pelagic fishing, screw-in jig heads can be perfectly used. This gives the lure a lot more flexibility and allows predatory fish to fold it much better, in contrast to the classic jig head. The escape rate is also significantly reduced, as the system detaches after the strike and moves freely.
